It’s New Years Eve, Eve – so to end the year!  Can you believe it is almost 2015???  Anyway, I thought I would share with you 10 Things about me that you may not know.

1.  Today is our 16th Wedding Anniversary.  My husband and I met in an unconventional way 20 years ago – at an Ice Skating Rink where our girls practiced for a Figure Skating Drill Team at 5 a.m. Saturday Mornings.  I was not at my best at that hour and I had a lot of baggage, yet he still married me!

2.  I have lived in another country.  Yep, I lived in Mexico for 7 months.  It was a GREAT experience and I learned so much about another culture and tolerance.  As a result of living in Mexico…

3.  I speak Spanish fluently.  I learned the language in a very short amount of time.  Really, not  much of a choice because not many people I was around spoke English. These days, I don’t get to practice as often as I used to, so when I do get a chance, it’s a bit rusty but it flows back, not losing much of that skill.  On that same note, I have the ability to pick up languages very easily.  I have learned German (in High School) and French. Because I don’t use either of these languages, I have forgotten most of it.  I can read and understand Italian and I can understand written French.

4.  I am ambidextrous sort of.  I am not a true Lefty.  I eat and write with my left hand but basically can do everything else with my right hand or both.

5.  I was an only child until I was almost 13 1/2 years old, but have 3 children of my own and 3 step-children.  Since my husband is an only child himself, it was weird to us when the kids didn’t get along because we never experienced that sibling dynamic while we were growing up.

6.  My dream/bucket list vacation is Hawaii.  Most of our kids have been there already, as well as both of our parents.

7.  I am multi-faceted – I love to watch Chicago Blackhawks Hockey and Chicago Bears Football, but I also love the arts, especially the Ballet.  My husband made a dream of mine come true and took me to see Swan Lake with the Joffrey Ballet this past fall.  On HIS BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!

8.  I LOVE camping.  Even Rustic camping.  Yep in a tent with a sleeping bag.  No running water or electricity.  So that means I am pretty self-sufficient because I can start a pretty good bonfire too.  Connecting with nature on a regular basis is very important to me.

9.  Alaska is my dream state to live and on a Homestead.  My husband and I visited Alaska several years ago and I fell in love with The Last Frontier, the land, the people, the nature and I would love to go back to visit other parts of that State.

10.  I am Astraphobic -a fear of thunderstorms.  Ever since I was a small child, I have been afraid of thunderstorms.  I associate them with tornadoes which also scare me. If there is a thunderstorm coming, I have literally hid under the covers with a pillow over my head.  My husband is the opposite and will stand outside watching the storm roll in.  The phobia is much better thanks to Kundalini Yoga and Cranial Sacral Therapy. I can actually stand outside and watch and take photographs of the storm. This picture was taken in June from my backyard.

and this one taken in August…  Looks like an Angel within those dark clouds.  Do you see it?
